It had already been an memorable 12 months for Malik Mothersille, but an international call-up but the icing on the cake for the former Chelsea man.
After an excellent personal campaign for Peterborough United, with the highlight a second successive EFL Trophy success, Mothersille headed into the summer break in a good place.
However, a call-up to the Jamaica squad for the Unity Cup final against Nigeria at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon was special and a debut soon followed as he appeared as a second half substitute before Nigeria eventually came out on top following a penalty shoot-out.
Mothersille was down at number seven in that penalty shoot-out order, but his team were ultimately outdone 5-4 after a 2-2 draw in the 90 minutes.
"It was a fantastic experience, the atmosphere was electric and it is something that I will never forget. It was an enjoyable day, it was a shame about the result, but I am happy because I got onto the pitch.
"It has been a great few days for me, training and then playing with some really good players and working under some brilliant staff, so it is a dream come true to represent my country," Mothersille said.
